David Prentiss
Consultant
David Prentiss began humanitarian work in 2003 in northeastern Afghanistan. David brings an impressive set of skills to GRDP, with broad experience in all aspects of program operations, including logistics, program management, administration, security, materials procurement, national staff recruitment and management, contract negotiations, cross-cultural relationships, program reporting, coordination, and program monitoring and evaluation.
David’s work as a Field Officer in Afghanistan included shelter, water, and flood control projects. He saw first hand both the devastation of disaster and conflict and the hope that humanitarian organizations can offer when they are able to do their job effectively. Through these experiences, he developed a desire to work with those engaged in helping restore that hope in their own developing nations.
Later, as Country Representative in post-tsunami Sri Lanka, David was able to further develop his program management skills in yet another environment plagued by both natural disaster and ongoing conflict. Here David expanded into additional sectors, including shelter, water, sanitation, infrastructure, and income-generation programs and further developed his skills leading and mentoring national staff. Now, as a consultant with GRDP, he is eager to use his experience by building the capacity of humanitarian organizations and construction companies to restore hope to those suffering from conflict and disaster.
