With a wide-ranging skill set across multiple sectors and expertise in project management, logistics, security, training, and organizational development, Eric offers significant value to GRDP and our partners.

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Eric learned a strong work ethic early in life. At age 16 he took his first trip overseas, spending two months in Grenada working on a construction project for a local missionary. This whetted his appetite for international work and after graduating from high school, he spent 18 months working in Romania.

In 1999 he graduated from Colorado Mountain College with an Associates Degree in Outdoor Recreation Leadership. During this time, he worked with the local Mountain Search and Rescue team and with the local ambulance crew as an Emergency Medical Technician. During college, Eric also spent time working in the construction field as well with the local Habitat for Humanity.

After graduating, Eric spent four years serving with Habitat for Humanity in Romania, Portugal, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Hungary. His responsibilities included organizational development, capacity building, skills training, logistics, safety, and construction management. Eric also researched and improved shelter designs with consideration for affordability and energy efficiency. With his natural leadership abilities and cross-cultural skills, Eric has led and trained numerous humanitarian volunteer teams around the globe.

After his time with Habitat for Humanity, he and his wife moved back to the United States for a year but soon returned overseas to work in Kabul, Afghanistan with Shelter for Life International (SFL). In Afghanistan Eric worked as a field officer and later project administrator on U.S. Government-funded programs providing school and clinic construction, cash-for-work opportunities, and shelter repair. He also managed country logistics and security for SFL in Afghanistan.

The birth of his daughter brought Eric and his wife back to the United States, where they established Ashar Management and Consulting Company, providing services to humanitarian agencies in program management and organizational development. In addition to his consulting work, he is currently completing a degree in Business Management. Eric resides in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with his wife Tanya and their daughter Julia.
