Chris Hills
Director and President
Chris Hills is the co-founder and President of Global Relief and Development Partners. With an impressive international relief and development background spanning multiple sectors and 37 countries, Chris is a dynamic, visionary, and entrepreneurial leader who is known for "making things happen." With his innovative and relationship-focused approach to humanitarian work, Chris is equally as comfortable and experienced sipping tea with local village members as he is collaborating with heads of state and CEOs.
A native of Auckland New Zealand, Chris has held key positions with some of the world’s largest faith-based organizations, leading humanitarian efforts in disaster, conflict, and developing environments including Afghanistan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Vietnam, and Zambia. Chris offers broad technical expertise across multiple sectors, including implementation and management experience in shelter, water, sanitation, construction and infrastructure, community development, food security, training and capacity building, livelihoods development, and emergency relief. He also has extensive field experience in project management, logistics, coordination, relationship management, and cross-cultural relations.
In addition, Chris has led numerous disaster response and assessment teams, which include most recently Iran, Indonesia, and the Sudan. He has acquired an in-depth knowledge of U.S. Government funding mechanisms after serving as project manager on several U.S.-funded projects and then moving on to country representative and director roles.
Chris offers a unique understanding of the complexities of USAID and USG funding sources and the challenging issues facing the humanitarian and reconstruction field. His vision for GRDP includes bridging the gaps between the non-profit humanitarian sector, faith-based organizations, for-profit reconstruction and logistics companies, governments, donors, and beneficiaries to more effectively utilize resources and serve those in need around the world.
Chris lives with his wife Wendela, daughter Kaylee, and son Samuel in Auckland, New Zealand.
